GERMAK Medan SUMUT – Workers across North Sumatra expressed deep disappointment toward the BPJS Employment Office for the North Sumatra Region (Sumbagut), after no representatives attended the Indonesian Workers’ Day (Harpekindo) 2025 celebration held recently in Langkat Regency.
Chairman of DPD KSPSI AGN North Sumatra, Tengku Muhammad Yusuf, voiced his concerns to the media on Wednesday (April 8, 2025), stating that the absence of BPJS officials hurt the feelings of the workers, especially since the event included the ceremonial distribution of BPJS Employment cards.
“There should have been an official delegate from BPJS Employment present for the card distribution. Their absence is a clear sign of indifference toward the workers,” said Tengku Yusuf.
He contrasted this with the active involvement of BPJS President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo, who is known for personally attending labor-related events.
“The current deputy shows a lack of concern, unlike his predecessors who were more attentive. Ironically, it’s the workers who fund their salaries,” he added.
Tengku Yusuf urged local government officials, including the Governor of North Sumatra, to take this matter seriously. He also stated his intention to send a formal letter to the BPJS President Director and the Ministry of Manpower to evaluate the performance of the Sumbagut Deputy.
Separately, Deputy of BPJS Employment Sumbagut, Sanco Simanullang, stated that he had assigned the Langkat BPJS branch head to attend the event.
“We apologize. There were many overlapping agendas at the time. I’ll verify again,” he briefly responded.
